The mathematics of the astounding tragedy we all face are easy to work out.

The reports of over 1.5 million children slaughtered annually in our nation are published every year, almost as a footnote to our other achievements. To most of our fellow citizens, they are just another statistic. Turn the page of the newspaper, and over 1.5 million souls are not just gone, they are all but forgotten. It is difficult to say with certainty how our nation could have become so jaundiced.

The mathematics, however, are easy to work out.

They have killed another child.

The long-term social implications are a little more difficult to fathom.

How long must our deceased children wait before they are granted restitution? What final price will we pay? Certainly, the anti-life mentality as a social disease is doing more to us than merely sapping our strength. It is killing us; justifiably claiming as its own our morality, our civilization and our will to survive.

In the intervening time, our society is becoming addicted to the condition which is killing it. Our leaders are so inured to the contraceptive mentality that they feel we need it to survive.

They have killed another child.

Abortion has become a parasite, feeding on us individually and as a people. With every death it causes, abortion steals more from our culture, lessening life, lessening humanity, lessening love, lessening faith, lessening morality. . . .

The pillars of our society have been so weakened that it is perhaps more shocking that we continue to stand than it would be if our foundation collapsed. The judicial system which guards our Constitution began to crumble long ago. Our children, our future, are under constant attack by the school system we designed to nurture them.

another child.Our strides towards a society with an all-encompassing death ethic are growing longer each year. First came the anti-human errors of Malthus, who planted the lie that population growth is evil. Next came the contraceptive, anti-child mentality of Sanger and associates, a mentality that played into a state of mind that promoted immediate gratification as an ultimate human end. Abortion was a logical outgrowth, hideous, but legalized nation-wide in 1973. Infanticide, euthanasia . . . our society has put such a value on mercy, we extend that cherished gift only to those who we know will return it.

They have killed another child.

Abortion robs us of our children at a rate such that one dies in the United States in about the same time it takes to read one hundred words. On any given day, over 4,000 innocents are slaughtered. No wonder Rescuers are inspired to act to save the children now. If we as pro-lifers do not feel a sense of urgency associated with our mission, then we are failing the children who are dying today. We are failing the children who do not have the choice to wait until tomorrow.
